Healthy Soils & Climate Smart Farming

Join us and Mothers out Front for a great opportunity to learn about soil health as a climate solution. NOFA/Mass has been a leader in the state promoting soil carbon sequestration, climate-smart farming practices, and also helped to pass the Healthy Soil Action Plan. Come learn about our work at the state level, hear from our Massachusetts climate-smart farms, and be a climate advocate through your food & farm choices.

Soil Health Bi-Monthly Community Call

We are excited to invite you to our bimonthly Soil Health Calls! These calls are designed to provide a platform for farmers, researchers, and experts to share their knowledge, experiences, and insights on soil health.  Our aim is to create a community of like-minded individuals who are passionate about improving soil health. Our calls will cover a range of topics related to soil health, including soil biology, organic matter, nutrient management, and any topic of relevance to the NOFA community and beyond. We will also have guest speakers who will share their expertise and insights on the latest developments in the field.

Bri Dupras from Franklin Regional Council of Governments will cover the MA cottage industry food laws, and talk about how to get your home kitchen certified. We’ll also cover how you can sell foods you make at home and which permits you need. // Sí, ¡puede administrar un negocio de alimentos desde la cocina de su propia casa! Bri Dupras del Consejo Regional de Gobiernos de Franklin cubrirá las leyes alimentarias de la industria artesanal de Massachusetts y hablará sobre cómo obtener la certificación de la cocina de su hogar. También cubriremos cómo puede vender alimentos que prepara en casa y qué permisos necesita.

Large Animals & The Farm Organism

December 12 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

The ideal biodynamic farm is a self-contained individuality to which cows contribute milk, meat, and soil fertility. Megan Durney shares about the essential nature of the animal, and Kim Vaughan covers the basics of biodynamic dairy herd management, including rotational grazing and pasture management. The day includes a visit to our herd, cow barn, and dairy, the only one in Rockland County.
